MARK HERZLICH UPDATE

I received this email on Friday.

Mark Herzlich update:

Just to keep everyone in the loop, although there’s not a lot new to report. So far Mark continues to be doing fine. The chemo seems to be doing a number on the tumor and other than taking Mark’s hair, has had little in the way of negative side effects. Mark continues to feel well and is pain free. He’s had no nausea and has been able to eat fine and keep his weight right in line. He’s been working out and swimming and looks great.

Mark just spent a week on campus at Boston College finishing up some summer school work and spending time with his teammates. While he found that lifting with the team and Coach Loco was a bit tougher than tossing weights around with some friends in the basement – he had a ball and the trip was very good for him.

Mark is back home now and will begin a full week of chemo starting Monday. After the 4th of July holiday, we’ll be taking another MRI to determine the progress that has been made so far in killing the cancer and what the next course of action will be. Depending upon the results of the MRI, we might do surgery, we might do radiation or we might go for another cycle of the chemo before doing either. Regardless, we won’t know anything until after the MRI.

Many thanks to everyone – friends, strangers, family (both blood and BC) and everyone else – who’ve kept Mark in their thoughts and prayers. I’m convinced that the prayers are being heard and that’s part of the reason that he’s doing so well.

A HEALTHY HERZLICH WOULD HAVE FILLED THE TOP TWO SPOTS IN ACC

Last week Heather Dinich posted her Top 30 players in the ACC and although Herzlich was not on the list, due to his battle with Ewing's Sarcoma, Heather Dinich states that a healthy Herzlich would have filled the "top two spots", by himself. And we at Herznation agree.

Mark is to continue his treatment this week. Keep the comments coming. Stay Up Mark!

MARK HERZLICH'S TREATMENT CONTINUES ON SCHEDULE

Mark completed his second round of chemotherapy last week and doctors say that everything is going according to their plan. Doctors want to see how the next rounds of chemo attack the tumor before they pick a date for surgery, but that should be decided within the next month.

Mark shaved his head this weekend so it will be tougher to see if the chemo makes his hair fall out. But for those of us who have followed Herzlich through the years, this is just another hair style. Check out his Rival's photo.

Hey Mark. Stay healthy...Stay fit...Stay Up.

MARK HERZLICH COMPLETES A FULL WEEK OF CHEMO

It is hard to believe that it was only 25 days ago that Mark Herzlich was diagnosed with cancer. His announcement rocked the football world and brought together a nation. With the swift action of his family and doctors, Mark was able to start chemotherapy only 7 days after his diagnosis. A truly amazing feat.

Today concludes five consecutive days of chemotherapy for Mark Herzlich, the longest run to date. Stay Up Mark!
